Springfield, MO – October 6, 2023 – Abacus CPAs, LLC is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a leading CPA firm in the Midwest.  

Abacus CPAs began as Dunton & Associates on April 28, 1998 in Branson, Mo. with just five employees. The firm added a Springfield office in the same year and now has six offices across Springfield, Branson, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Harrison and Fayetteville, Arkansas. Abacus CPAs has 140 employees that serve over 6,000 clients annually. Since the beginning, Bill Dunton, founder and managing partner of Abacus CPAs, knew that “people deserved better.” 

“In 1998, I knew people deserved a better place to work, and the community deserved a place to trust for financial guidance,” said Dunton. “We’ve continued to prioritize people for over two decades.” 

In the past 25 years, Abacus CPAs has been recognized as a regional leader for its innovation. In 2022, Abacus CPAs launched the “Abacus App,” where clients are able to track their tax projects in real time, upload and sign documents, and speak directly to Abacus Professionals. This innovation won Boomer Consulting’s Bridging the Gap Innovative Project Award. Abacus CPAs has been a multiple recipient of Biz 417’s Best Places to Work and honored as an Accounting Today’s Top Regional Leader. The firm was named an IPA Best of the Best Accounting Firm in 2023. Additionally, numerous employees have received individual professional honors, like the Springfield Business Journal’s Trusted Advisors award.
